IN THE FLESH

Bits and peices of Roger's tourbook:

Q: Correct me if i'm wrong but up until 3 years ago it had been quite a while since you'd toured?
RW: In fact, it had been 12 years. Since the Radio Kaos tour i'd performed only twice. Once in Berlin when i did The Wall in July 1990. Then in 1992 i did a concert for Don Henly for his walden Woods Project. Henry David Thoraeu, lived and wrote Walden or, Life the Woods there so it is almost hallowed ground. But the developers are poised to stick with little whitew boxes all over it. Din in his infinite wisdom, decided to try to save it. ... I did a gig with him in LA. i played a few numbers, as Don did himself, John Fogerty and Neil Young.

Q: You mean there's some life in the old dag yet, Roger?
RW: Yes Nick. I guess i was at an age when i felt i didn't do it soon, i might never do it. And i would regretted that. I want to get up and bark a bit.

Q: A word or two about the band?
RW: Of course. On rhythm guitar is Andy Fairweather Low with whom i worked for a long, long while, and who was crucially involved in Amused to Death. He's an old and trusted henchman of mine and i'd prefer not to go on the road without him. Then of course there's Snowy White who did the very first Wall gigs, not to mention The Wall in Berlin.
Grahma Board, the drummer, i've worked with a good deal. He's a good drummer and a lovely man with no side to hime. You can't go out on the road with anybody who's got that attitude, and, believe me, there's plenty of them in rock'n'roll. Graham is not one of them
Harry my son, is joining us for this tour on keyboards which is very exciting. He's playing piano since he was a knee high to a gnat, and is very accomplished player and one who has the advantage of being very familiar with my repertoire.
There's another keyboard player - Andy Wallace- who was recommended to me by Andy Newmark, the great drummer of Pros & Cons.
Guest vocalists are PP Arnold and KAtie Kissoon both of whom i've worked with one my solo-projects, and who are joined on this tour by Carol Kenyon. Like PP and Katie, Carol has had a successful solo career with records.
The other lead guitarist, who also covers some end vocals, is Chester Kamen who impresed me enormously when i heard him play.

Q: Do you plan more tours in the future?
RW: Having done two tours in North America in 1999 and 2001 i was determined to take this retrospective to the rest of the world. I'm enjoying performing so much now that i suspect i will tour agian in the future, althrough more likely with new material.

Q: What's comming down the tracks?
RW: I think anyone who follows what i'm up to knows i've been working on a opera. Actually, i've been working on it for a while. ... The music is written very much in the early nineteenth centurysymphoniuc tradition, but i hope anyone who knows my work will give it a shot...
